I changed my nose stud to early!

I changed my nose stud only a couple of days after it got periced as I did not like how far the stud was sticking out off my nose. But now I am not sure if it is infected or whether it is the jewelery I have put in that is making it irritated? It is abit swolen, red and sore to touch around the pericing. I have been doing sea salt soaks for a few days now the swelling has gone done slightly and I don't think it is as red but it still hasn't cleared up completely. I am not sure whether to put my orginal stud back in or just wait and leave my current one in?? HELP!
