I pierced my nose on my own

i pierced my nose by myselof.. a bad i dea i know, but i followed the intrusctions on how to clean it. and it healed fairly quickly but i had pierced it with a smaller gauge. i had a 18g or a 16g in it and two night ago i just put a 14g in my nose, it still hurts and is draining. can it get infected? or should i just not worry about it? what should i do?
