i got my nose pierced 8 weeks ago

My piercer said to leave my stud in for 6 weeks for it to completely heal & I've had it in for 8 & a half weeks. I assumed my nose was completely healed. My nose screw came out so i put a ring in the next day. My nose is now really sore tender & red. It is leaking healing fluids & forming crusts so I don't think It's infected, but I don't like the ring. How long should i leave the ring in before I switch to a stud? & should I be concerned with the redness & tenderness?
