Septum Piercing Panic

I have a question: I got my septum piercing about a week or two ago, and it's not really sore unless i smack it (obviously because it is a new piercing), but as i have been cleaning it i have noticed that there is always a ring of white around the piercing holes that doesnt come off. Is that just my skin?! it doesn't smell, or hurt randomly, nor does it really crust. I just need to know if it is normal because it is making me nervous. It definitely doesnt look healed- but it doesnt look like an infection either.
