Nose ring seems to be sinking down in to my nose

by Tori
(United States)

I got my nose pierced 4 days ago,as of right now it's not hurting at all. But around the piercing is still a little swollen and red.The piercing place used a small screw nose ring...now the nose ring seems to be sinking down in to my nose. I'm not sure if this is because it's still a little swollen or if its really growing up around the jewelery. Ive have been cleaning it 2-3 times a day with saline solution, as directed by the piercer. So I've been pushing the nose ring up a little to clean under it and that is all. So is this normal, or is my piercing ruined? Is there anything I can do to prevent it from sinking in to my nose? I hate to have to take it out because I really like! Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Sinking nose stud NEW
by: Harley

I got my nose pierced cuz I'm a Dude and I wanted it to sparkle in the eyes of all the pretty girls I was hitting on and the friggen thing started sinking into my nose and just looked like a zit! Such a piss off. Soo in turn I have spent the last couple days with balls of toilet paper shoved up m nose to hold it out from the skin and have been cleaning it twice a day with this wound cleanser stuff I was told would work. I dunno if I need a longer bar or what cuz it doesn't hurt at all it just sits flush with my skin and looks stupid to me. Should I got get new jewelry or continue my little self remedy and hope it works?

Make a mixture of warm water and Epsom or Sea Salt and apply it several times a day with a cotton ball to reduce swelling.

HELP!
by: Morgan

The same thing is happening to me! i talked to a friend and she said she got hers done at the same place i did and her nose ring also was sinking into her nose. She went back to the place that did hers and they put in a different piercing that had a bigger stud. She was still worried so she went to a different parlor and they were shocked to hear that he changed it because it's a huge risk of infection. So she ended up having to take the whole thing out and letting it heal. I have no idea what I'm going to do ):

Sunken stud
by: Anonymous

Well my nose was pierced 4 days ago and on the second day it was sinking into my nose... I was scared and freaking out. I consulted with my professional piercer and he told me to come by the shop. The sad thing is that the shop is over 30 miles from my house. So last night I got home made my salt water solution and applied a cotton ball under the stud and above... When I woke up today it looked a lot better. But I am still going to my guy so he can see what he can do to fix it. I think that this happens when the nose is swollen. So if you can try some ice and salt water that should help a little bit but make sure you go back to the place where you received the piercing. You might need a bigger stud...
