Ive got a large bump on the side of nose piercing

by Brianna

Ive got a large red bump on the side of my nose piercing... leading into the actual hole. I read up on it and realize its common. A lot of people said to use sea salt and water to dry it out and extract the infection. Can i use table salt? i'm in a dorm and that's really all i have access to.

No don't use table salt. Only sea salt. Mix one tea spoon with a cup of boiled water but let it cool so it's not too hot to put on your skin. I do it morning and night. Soak it for 30 seconds, maybe in your case a couple of minutes. And please don't overdo it with the salt coz it can be too harsh if the mixture is too strong.
In my personal experience It's best to remove the piercing once the bump appears. For me with previous nose piercings I've had nothing but trouble trying to get rid of that bump and have had to simply remove the jewelry and keep cleaning in day and night til it's healed. The bump can leave a scar if you mess with it too much. Don't pick or squeeze it.

Try cleaning it for a couple of weeks and if there isn't any improvement take it out. I hope that helps.
