When i first got mine pierced, it wouldn't stay in either. so this is normal. i used to buy those little round band aids and wear them over my piercing when i went to sleep. from past issues, i would strongly suggest getting a captive bead hoop, no bigger than 8mm.

go back to you nose piercer and get it changed to L-shaped nose ring or a nose screw.
