does the skin close up when wearing a small jewelery after having a large jewelery

i have had a nose piercing for over a month and the stud is fairly large. my nose has almost healed compleatly, i was wondering if i could wear the normal thin pined jewelery without my nose percing closing to that size so that i am able to wear my large sized jewwlwey again?
