bump in my nose piercing

i had my nose pierced 2 months ago and so i went to a piercing shop to change my nose ring because a bump came out right next to my nose piercing and i wasnt wearing my original ring cause i accidently pulled it out and lost it so i was wearing a really small stud the cheap kind and so i read some where that changing to the proper jewerly stainless steel and salt soaks may make it go away is this correct also those the new jewerly have to be clean first before wearing even though it was seal in a package because i asked the piercer and he said it didnt needed to be clean cause it was already clean sterilized since it came seald in a package is this true?
